Motiongate Dubai

THEME PARK

Project Overview

Motiongate is one of the 4 (or 5) resorts that make up Dubai Parks and Resorts. I worked for RIVA CREATIVE USA, who provided concept to detailed design.

Motiongate officially opened DECEMBER 18, 2017.

Below you will find examples of my work, including components I designed that went through to construction (such as Madagascar), to earlier iterations on areas that may reflect a different, final design.

Unless otherwise noted, the work found here is my own.

(Note: the map / top-down images found to the right of here are illustrations created by another individual or group, used here to show the overall scope and public maps of the parks).

MADAGASCAR

Dreamworks Zone

This area holds a special place in my heart since it's where most of my time designing.

It's entirely pulling from the 3rd movie, which is doesn't take place in Madagascar, but follows a traveling circus.

Because there is no central location from the movie, I've pulled together the grounded circus elements with the wild Fur Power Circus.

Below you'll find a selection of my work as Area Art Director. Beyond that you'll see more specific breakdowns of the different attractions.

MAD PURSUIT

Main Tent / Coaster Entry

The focal point from the main entry.

The design pulls closely from the 3rd Movie. The Final Built product may have simplified some complexities with form, but retains the size and much of the 'popcorn' lights.

STUDIO CENTRAL

Main Street

This is the central thoroughfare leading from the main entry of Motiongate to the hub, providing accessibility to the different lands, as well as it's own 'Movie' themed shops and restaurants.

I provided earlier design iterations, initially pulling from NYC, Venice, and other real-world locations.

The final construction retains many elements, but tweaks certain design elements, reducing the real world references.
